Mr Blackwood said stage one of the Noojee Heritage Centre Project would include the construction of a replica of the original Noojee Railway Station building for use as a heritage centre.

These days, Noojee is very much a tourist town, particularly as it lies on the main access route to the ski fields of Mount Baw Baw. The town centre lies on Bennett Street where the Noojee General Store is situated. The La Trobe River flows through the town centre and is flanked by large expanses of shaded grassy parkland. At the northern end of Bennett Street is a river front park which has BBQ and picnic shelters, a playground and a small sandy swimming beach at a bend in the river.

In the beginning
It all started on the eighth day of the eighth month in 1988. Little did founders Ivan and Lubi Juric know then that their weekend getaway would turn into the establishment that is today known as Piedmont Wines. After a couple of years of hard work on a piece of land that was overrun by scrub Ivan got bored. So in 1991 the story begins. The first grape vines are planted, just as a hobby. Shiraz, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc rootlings go into the ground to keep Ivan and Lubi occupied on their weekends forever.

A total of just 330 vines were planted, but this was more than enough for Ivan to try his hand at grape growing and wine making. This was also more than enough for him to be able to recognise that this is what he really wanted to do. These first few vines opened the floodgates and the vineyard has expanded on a number of occasions, as the quality of the wine kept getting better.

Expanding for demand
The second section of vineyard was planted in 1994 and this more than doubled the size of the vineyard as a whole. It was with this amount of vines that Ivan hoped to start something successful. And he did. In 1997 our wine was sent for competition for the first time. It was at the Victorian Wines Show that Ivan managed to win a Gold Medal and the trophy for best wine in its division for our 1996 Sauvignon Blanc.

It appeared that this was the catalyst for Piedmont to take its next step and become a professional winery and not just a hobby. Wine making from then on has been taken extremely seriously and this success also sparked the creation of some new vineyards on neighboring properties to be planted as the word was spread that this previous unknown region would be good for producing wine.

Opening our door
In order to become a winery that could be open to public, we needed to expand once again. This started in 1998 when our biggest section of vines was planted. Piedmont Wines once again was doubled in size to bring the size of our small vineyard to over 6 acres.

Quality Site Welding originated in the spread of natural gas to regional towns. Crews digging trenches, laying and welding pipes and connecting houses brought gas to Drouin, Warragul, Longwarry and Trafalgar.

The original three partners started business in 1973 and were narrowed to one when David Coade became the sole owner. David diversified the business expanding workshop capabilities. Key customers today range from mining, water and waste treatment, pump stations, local businesses and the rural community.

David developed a unique business known for its quality approach and a willingness to tackle difficult tasks, well engineered solutions and staff with a strong work ethic. David sold the business in 2003 but still provides welcome support today.

Ask any Country Music fan about the Gippsland music scene and you can be assured that ‘Truck’n with Tim’ will feature in your conversation.

Music presenter Tim Ryan hosted a Friday morning show on Gippsland FM for 7½ years then moving to the "Ace Radio" for 5 years. He has now gone back 'home' to 'Gippsland FM', where he broadcasts on a Sunday afternoon from 12pm-2pm.

He celebrated his 10th Anniversary on Radio in February 2008. He has also hosted country music nights at local venues that have attracted hundreds of fans and along with functions throughout Victoria and beyond.

With the announcement of the Winners in the '2008 Australian Country Music People's Choice Award', Tim was thrilled when he was announced with the 'Most Popular Country Music Radio Program Award'.

Born and raised in Morwell, Tim comes from a family in the transport industry and relates his early love of Country Music to truck runs with his father. John was Inducted in the 'National Road Transport Hall of Fame' In Alice Springs in 2010 & Tim was proud to be a part of this.
