J-550 Steam Locomotive and Tender Relocation 2013
The iconic J class (J-550) steam locomotive is finally relocated to the heritage centre project site

After months of discussions with Baw Baw Shire Council, who were considering the disposal of a static display locomotive to a railway organisation in another shire, Council eventually voted in favour of the Noojee and District Historical Society taking ownership of the train. The society was finally able to relocate the iconic J class (J-550) steam locomotive from Rotary Park, Warragul to the Heritage Centre Project site in Noojee.
We would especially like to thank Olsson Heavy Haulage for taking care of the train on its journey to its new home in Noojee and all members of the Noojee and District Historical Society that were involved on the day.
A lot of hard work and effort by the society and its supporters has gone into making sure this locomotive reached its last stop at Noojee, safely, and we hope to see you all admiring it from the station platform once the heritage centre building is complete.
