Heritage Centre Project Launch Day 2011

On December 9th, 2011 the Noojee and District Historical Society formally launched its Heritage Centre Project.  The project involves reconstructing the original 1919 railway station and surrounding buildings as a heitage centre to house local historical artefacts and items of cultural interest.

The launch ackowledged the significant progress the society has made in its 6 years of existence to make its vision for a heritage centre a reality.  In particular, the day was in recognition of the DSE granting the society permission to use crown land to establish the 'Heritage Centre Project.'

With over 80 guests in attendance, including Baw Baw Shire Mayor Diane Blackwood, Gary Blackwood (MP for Narracan), council members, various DSE representatives along with other guests who have supported the project; we are pleased to report that the launch day was a great success.

Former Baw Baw Shire employee Lynn Mizen, who had been involved in actively supporting the society since its inaugiural meeting in 2006, had the honour of cutting the ribbon and declaring the Heritage Centre Project officially open.

At the conclusion of the formalities Lynn kindly donated $1,000 to the society to help start the fund-raising for the project, and for that we say a huge thank you.
